Glow Hover

Time to move away from dance music for a bit...Minneapolis duo Bora York (Chris and Rebekah Bartels) aren’t new to making music, but Glow Hover feels like a reintroduction, the kind that walks into the room unbothered, half-smiling, absolutely glowing (pun intended), and doesn’t care if you’re keeping up. It’s a song that sounds like a VHS memory of a summer that maybe didn’t quite happen, but should have.

At its core, Glow Hover is pure, playful dream pop, dressed up in pulsing synths, weirdly satisfying vocal effects, and a chorus that floats right out the sunroof. There’s something so effortless about it and maybe that’s the whole point. Like discovering chillwave again for the first time, think cracked versions of Ableton, going on Hype Machine, late-night Myspace profiles, and college dorm speakers trying their best. It’s nostalgic, but not stuck in the past. If anything, it floats right in that sweet spot between then and now.
