Montell2099 has a way of making electronic music that feels like it belongs somewhere between the club and the walk home, and “ME&YOU” is a perfect example of that.
There’s something really smooth about this one. The drums keep things moving, but it’s the soft, flowing synth pads that really set the mood. Everything feels slightly blurred around the edges, like the night is starting to catch up with you. You know that feeling when the club is over, the streets are still glowing, and you’re not quite ready to go home yet? This is that.
“ME&YOU” has a warm, nostalgic quality without ever becoming overly sentimental. It feels like neon signs reflecting off wet pavement, empty streets, the last few people outside a club, and those random conversations you somehow remember years later. The production keeps it danceable, but there’s plenty of space in it too. The pads drift in and out while the groove just keeps rolling underneath, giving the whole track this late-night, almost dreamlike quality. It’s less about a big moment and more about creating a place you can disappear into for a few minutes. The style is not what Montell2099 is most known for, in fact this is quite a laid-back one and a contrast to his other releases. Nonetheless it feels refreshing and almost therapeutical too.
