Every year it has been a tradition to sum of the year, picking the best of the best on this last day before NYE. However, I have come to realise that making a list...picking the just sucks. You are not supposed to compare artists, their music or anything else. We're all unique and we should celebrate that rather than making music a popularity contest. With that in mind I have decided to just end 2017 with a regular post, however choosing a track I think suits the occasion. So there are no spoilers to be had here, just the awesome cover/remake of Justin Timberlake's "Signs" by the talented producers Throttle & Niko The Kid. Their disco loaded version is available as a free download so you can add this straight to your NYE playlist as a late addition.

All that is left for me to say is: thank you for 2017. Thanks for checking in on the blog! Stay safe, don't go blowing for face off with fireworks and see you next year!

A Game I Just Can't Win

An exciting new tune coming from my hometown Copenhagen. Producer Amigo 1000 has released his single "A Game I Just Can't Win" feat. Jutty Ranx and all you need to know is that this stuff rocks. Who is Amigo 1000? It's not obvious, but this guy is in fact a host on Danish National Radio P6 Beat going by the real name Thomas Volmer Schulz. That name should be much more familiar to some of you, having worked with names such as Aura, Craig David and Damon C. Scott to name just a few. The launch of this solo project marks a new direction, but a promising one and hopefully we'll get to hear more from Amigo 1000 in the new year. For play below and enjoy "A Game I Just Can't Win" in all it's glory.

Don't Call

Happy Holidays! Hope you're enjoying some days off. Personally I like to relax with a nice piece of music while digesting the heavy Christmas food. Right now I am listening to Lost King's most recent release called "Don't Call". The L.A. based duo decided that it was time to release an original track just before the new year and what a treat they are giving us. After a couple of awesome remixes, this one tops them all. "Don't Call" is a pop infused indie/electronica track with a dope bass line, catchy melody, smooth vocals and just the right amount of energy for an easy listening piece. Press play below and enjoy!

Do You Need Me

Dutch producer Rudy Jr. and London born and bred Beau Nox are the forces behind the project called Day Fly and have recently dropped a new single called "Do You Need Me". While you might be all stressed out right before Christmas, I'll guarantee that this tune will help think of something else for a while. With a mix of 90s pop, rnb, soul, indie and electronica (a little bit of everything pretty much) this tune will have you captured your stereo in excitement. Yeah, it's not exactly Christmas music, but maybe you've been wham'ed up too much at this stage that you want something else. In that case this is definitely for you. Enjoy!

Last To Leave

If you're a hardcore Louis The Child fan, you will of course have come across their latest single already called "Last To Leave" feat. Caroline Ailin. If not, now is the time to catch up :) This track has that -lovingly quirky, but still catchy- vibe that I love about LTC, complete with bouncy wobble sounds and sing-a-long worthy lyrics. The Chicago based duo always delivers with their sound, never settling for the obvious, but developing with every new release. This is something you'll benefit from if you start checking out their existing collection of tracks, which will leave you with something to do during the holidays.

"Last To Leave" is out now, so give it a spin below and enjoy!

Just A Kid

Two Friends have had one incredibly productive year, releasing track upon track and with "Just A Kid" they officially wrap up 2017. For this one they have teamed up with Camp Harmony to set up some songwriting workshops, sharing their passion with kids that are less fortunate, growing up homeless or with very poor families. The kids sing the awesome backing vocals, while Kevin Writer provides the lead on a pop/electro track that delivers a sweet story and catchy guitar driven melody. A perfect tune to hum along to during the holiday season.

In the new year Two Friends will start out strong, continuing on their U.S. wide "Just A Kid" Tour. If you have the chance, make sure to catch them out at one of their stops. See the locations by clicking HERE.

Lost in Space

As the year is coming to a close, U.S. based Emmit Fenn has dropped "Lost In Space". With some remarkable chill out vibes, he ends his year in music with some winter friendly sounds that will haunt you right into the new year. 2017 can be said to have been THE year for Emmit Fenn as an artist, kickstarting his own career for real with his debut EP Prologue, as well as Eclipse EP. So things look bright for the future and I personally can't wait for all the good things to come from Emmit Fenn. Watch (Xie Remix)

I think by now we all agree that Billie Eilish is an amazing talent and that her music rocks, but that doesn't mean that there is any harm in remixing her music if it's done proper. Xie has taken up the task and now shares her take on "Watch". Staying true to the original vibe, Xie adds a light indie/trap/pop flavour which spices up the track in a really nice way. The original production could easily have sounded like this when you think about it and that I find particularly awesome. Don't get a clue of what I am taking about? This Is For You

Have you heard of project Bleach Baby? No? There's a good reason for that! This is in fact the debut release by this anonymous entity, with the title "This Is For You". The track is built up around a classic house track, but then spiced up with some more energetic future house bounce ala Tchami meets Don Diablo. The vocalist singing on this track is just as anonymous as the producers, but her powerful voice sounds like an absolute dream and adds to the excitement when listening. "This Is For You" is out now via Liftoff Records and available for streaming via the link below. Press play and enjoy!

U.S. based producer Almand is responsible to kick start your weekend today, with his newest single called "Ride" feat. Tima Dee. It's been almost an entire year since his last release (Don't Manipulate), so this is kind of a special occasion!

An epic combo of bouncy house, rnb and pop sets the stage for this new one, alongside an incredibly smooth vocal performance. This is music that puts you in a good mood...period! If you're a bit producer-minded, make sure to check out the epic percussion work on here, adding some very interesting dynamics to the instrumental as a whole. Of course there are many other nice things to point out as well, but mmmmh that percussion is crisp!

There's good reason to be excited when U.S. based producer Amtrac drops a new tune. His characteristic oldschool house sound is always incredible captivating and fresh sounding. This new one is called "Companions" and brings the listener plenty of sweet sweet bass, nicely mixed together with some spacey and atmospheric sounds that make this track sound out of this world. Think early 90's house, mixed with 80's synths and a hint of acid house...if that doesn't sound like a party, I don't know what does. What's also worth's a +7 minute track for once! Running Away

2017 has been an amazing year for DROELOE and Taska Black on an individual level, but now they are joining forces towards the end of the year, for a single release called "Running Away" feat. _Cut. Both DROELOE and Taska Black share a distinct sound profile, so combing their creative forces only makes sense. The result also pretty much speaks for itself, going all-in on heavy bass vibes and quirky sounds. _Cut whom we know from e.g. "Lines Of The Broken" delivers yet an impeccable performance, making sure that the track gets a certain lightness as well. Let You Go

California based producer VIRTU has released a new single called "Let You Go" and it deserves your listen. Maybe you've come across other VIRTU productions here on the blog earlier, but this single is actually the first with his own lyrics and vocal. Although the track is quite upbeat and energetic, it deals with an emotional topic: the loss of his mother to cancer. "Let You Go" describes the journey of the tragedy, but at the same time beams with hope and positivity, which makes this a very beautiful listening experience.

Just a week after dropping his debut single, Jersey (the British Island) born and bred producer Jordan Burrows releases the follow up called "Landslide" together with producer Glance. With a distinct hip-hop/rnb and pop flavour, this track grooves along like hot butter on frying pan. The smooth instrumental perfectly compliments the soft vocal filtering and sets the mood for autonomous head bobbing. Not only is the music crisp, but also the accompanying music video is an absolute work of art (if you catch my drift). Check out all of it below and enjoy!

Starting Fires

Nick Ditri & Danny Boselovic, better known as the legendary duo Disco Fries, recently dropped their new EP "DF", containing 8 brand new tracks, incl. the singles "Side by Side" & "Is It Over". What's remarkable about this piece of work is the significant development of the Disco Fries sound. However, the EP doesn't just look into the future, it surely also delivers tracks containing that amazing club sound that their fans have come to love over the years. Having already showcased "Side by Side", the track below called "Starting Fires" marks the perfect blend between new and old from Disco Fries. The vocal performance by Daisy Guttridge adds a nice lightness, while the instrumental provides the perfect energy and melodic catchyness that I like. So if you're still not sure what to play this or pick up the new Disco Fries EP which is out now via all major platforms. Party on!

Nothing Lasts

Straight outta Antwerp comes today's track called "Nothing Lasts" by Taska Black feat. Pauline Herr. It's a somewhat sentimental sounding piece, both lyrically and melodically, but that perfectly fits the title and the deep thumbing bass line that haunts this amazing track. Although the pace feels a tad slow, it's not like there's a deficit in energy...on the contrary. When the drop hits you're in for a treat.

Exciting times for NYC based producer Sean Turk, who has released his first original which he has produced, written and sung on himself. The track is called "Lemonade" and features Jessame. If you are a frequent reader of the blog, you should be familiar with Sean Turk's self-titled genre "bedroom bass", which actually is a pretty darn accurate description of what his music is like. "Lemonade" sticks with some of these bedroom bass attributes, combined with a spicey hint of rnb and pop aswell.

The title almost gives it away, but this track is bursting with summer vibes. So even if your freezing somewhere in Sweden right now (like me), you can listen to this and think of warmer times. Also, if you're a visual person, make sure to check out Sean's ultra dope music video right here below:

Interview: Jared Galley

I am a big fan of a good music videos or festival teasers and/or recap films and the people working on these often do not get the recognition they deserve. Therefore, today's post comes in the form on an interview with Jared Galley - Videographer, Director & Partner at Ajax Visuals. Being a bit of a hobby photographer myself, I was curious to learn more about some of the challenges he would be dealing with when working in often crowded, dark and loud locations. Maybe if you are an aspiring videographer yourself, there might be a thing or two in here that you could learn from this interview. Hope you enjoy!

As a videographer at shows and festivals, what are some of the biggest challenges you face in order to capture the vibe and story you want to tell? I assume it must be particularly tricky to get good shots at night and find a balance between complete darkness and very bright light sources like lasers and flashing lights…?

Shooting at night for sure has its difficulties but is a fun challenge to take on. There's more lighting to play around with and makes for a more chaotic feel with the flashing lights/lasers but this also adds a different flavor compared to day shoots. But some of the biggest challenges I face are the crowds. Sometimes they're great; screaming, dancing, and interacting with the camera - but sometimes they're stiff as a board and I'll literally have to go up to people and ask them to dance for the camera. Another problem I face is creating a unique story for every experience. I don't like just simply capturing the moment, I prefer creating meaning and telling a "story" with each video. I think the days of simply making a cool edit with a couple of zoom transitions and spins are slowly drifting away - the audience wants more depth and texture. I'm still trying to figure out how I can tackle the project in a unique way - I want the event to tell a story, not just documented.

Does the crowd love the camera or do they hate it when you stick a lens up in their faces?

I feel there's a love/hate relationship with how the crowd reacts to a lens in their face. Many times they'll dance, laugh and stick their face right in the camera but often they'll also hide from it or just ignore it - everyone has a different reaction. I've had a fair share of unique experiences from a girl kissing the lens leaving a nice fat lipstick mark on it to a guy attempting to grab it and running off (both situations that I was not a fan of). Nevertheless most encounters are funny and a lot of people just want to be in that next aftermovie to show their friends.

What has been the most fun or exciting promo, show or festival you have covered and what made it special?

I think shooting at Veld Music Festival with Dzeko & Tiesto was the coolest experience to date, the crowd was insane and being able to work with a huge stage production including co2, confetti, and pyro was such a treat as videographer - it's so much to play around with in post.

Et opslag delt af Jared Galley 🇨🇦 (@jared_galley) den

How do you find inspiration and creativity to come up with new ideas for shoots?

Many times it depends on the city/location of the shoot and what kind of stage I'm working with. I always get so inspired by our environment and the ambiance of the different locations. Many times I'll show up to an event with a completely different initial vision, but as soon as I get there I get hit with new inspiration and ideas from what surrounds me. The different shots and angles start to appear in my mind and I just start to recreate what I envision. I think of what the shots would look like in an edit and then I begin to execute.

What type of gear would I find in your backpack and in particular, how much storage do you have to carry around when you’re out in the field to make sure you can capture all you want?

You'll find me running around with a Sony A7sII, Sigma 35mm & 20mm prime lenses, Canon 24 to 70mm, and my beat up Glidecam Hd-2000. Storage wise - I'm looking at about 20 to 50 GB of footage for a single day shoot so I use a 64GB SanDisk SD card.

West coast resident Ken Loi is back after his well deserved maternity leave with this amazing new single called "Tangible" feat. Sü. The sound on this track is a development of Ken Loi's sound which blends subtle dance vibes with emotional melodies and beautiful vocals. Speaking of vocal, Sü's voice is absolutely stunning and in the mix the lightness she brings perfectly balances out the bass. Notice how the instrumental vibe is somewhat cold, dark and mysterious, but how the vocal really brings some incredible warmth. It's difficult to describe what music does to you, but just give the track a listen yourself and you'll see :) "Tangible" is out now via Kaskade's label Arkade and you can stream it via most major platforms (see link below). Good Thing (Thifu Remix)

Today's pick comes from Pakistan. A producer going by the name of Thifu has crafted a remix for Tritonal's "Good Thing" feat. Laurell. He calls his style "Easthit"...while I am not quite sure what that means, I do know that it kicks some ass. Listening to the energy filled drop on this remix gives me goosebumps and it fits really well with the original vibe and of course the amazing vocal by Laurell. Otherwise, little is known about Thifu, but let's hope he keeps those spicy tunes coming. Feel free to press the play button's the only place you can enjoy this remix anyway as it's not an official remix release.

Deck The Halls

Just a few weeks ago, nobody would have seen this coming. Now it's a reality and Christmas has officially been OutWham'ed by non-other than Kaskade, who has been busy crafting a full Christmas album, bringing you 13 new tracks in a mix of fresh interpretations of classic Christmas songs, but also a couple of true originals. The piece I have picked out from the album is the timeless "Deck The Halls" feat. Erika, which I think truly marks the flavour of the album. Other honorable mentions are "O Come Emmanuel" feat. Skylar Grey, who manages to sprinkle angel dust over this church-heavy melody and "God Rest Ye" feat. Debra Fotheringham, which samples Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile".

It's not the first time Kaskade does Christmas songs, having previously released remixes of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and Frank Sinatra's "Mistletoe and Holly". Kaskade being a devout Mormon, it all fits perfectly together that most of the tracks are in the spirit of the origins of Christmas. Personally, I love Christmas music (old and new), but I've grown tired lately of hearing the same over and over again every single year. With this album, I can now satisfyingly sit back, relax and enjoy something new. Thanks Kaskade!

Oasis (Barkley x Kyco Remix)

So now that it is officially weekend and some of you probably need to sweat out some Thanksgiving  calories 🦃🦃🦃, here's a cool new dance tune to help you do so!

One of my favourite The Him tracks of the year, "Oasis", has received an exciting and energy filled remix by Barkley & Kyco, transforming this future bass/pop marble into a proper bass loaded house track. The remix starts out with some classy piano chords, which are quickly exchanged with a sweet club bassline that adds some serious oomph. Despite the added club factor, Barkley & Kyco's version still pays respect to the original production, allowing the vocal by Sorana to shine in all the right places.

Twilight vs. Breathe

Ok...this should have you excited! Adam K & Soha, the forces behind legendary remixes like Kaskade's "4AM" and Ercola & Heikki L's "Deep At Night" are back with a mashup of their big hit "Twilight", merged with the vocals from Adam K & Slander's "Breathe" featuring Matthew Steeper & HALIENE. What can you expect? A bit of a retro kick to be honest, but it's exactly what I love about this piece. It brings back memories to an era where house music was just starting to form into the now overly abused term "EDM" and when trance really peaked as a genre. Restless Sea

I love the direction Louis Futon has been going with his music during 2017. This has again been proved with the release of his latest single called "Restless Sea" feat. Opia. The style of this track is a sweet melting pot of both his own style and that of Opia. The guitar parts are particularly outstanding, providing the track with its identity and adding some sweet contrast to the vocal performance. Production wise "Restless Sea" is A+, delivering crisp sound all around the spectrum and leaving room in the arrangement for both emotion and energy.

Be Yourself

Kazy Lambist doesn't sound like a French name, but France is where he's from. Straight outta Montpellier, the young artist has been around only for a short while, but already impresses with his unique sound and style, which in some ways remind me a bit of Norwegian band Donkeyboy, but with a distinct French house influence. The general vibe radiates a laidback club attitude which suits the vocal filter perfectly and makes for a pleasing listening experience in combination with the instrumental. Together with "Be Yourself", Kazy Labist has released another track called "Shutdown" and you can find both on all the major music streaming platforms. Check the link below for more.

I'm hungry for to fullfill my needs, here's the bassiest track that I could find. This one is called "Prima" by LA based Ivan Radin aka Commandr. Yes... "Prima" has been out for nearly half a year, but holy schmoley it hits hard. Not only does it have the sound I was looking for, it also has an ultra catchy bassline which easily gets stuck on your mind and makes you loose sense of time and place for a while. Certainly, this also means it's not a track for need to be in the mood for it...the mood for dark, deep and heavy bass. Give it a spin below and/or pick up a free copy directly via Soundcloud. Enjoy!

Can't Judge

Pierce Fulton made a thing...that's how he usually puts it himself. Prepping for his upcoming US tour running starting today until December 16, Pierce has released a track called "Can't Judge", which is essentially a remix of Bo Diddley's "You Can't Change A Book By The Cover". It's a bit of an uncoventional track, but at the same time it's fun and radiates good vibes, paying homage to one of Keith Richards' influences, as mentioned in the book "Life".

If you're so fortunate to live near one of the locations where Pierce will be performing, do yourself a favour go see him perform. Check the link below for a list of all shows:

Love Liike This

Based out of Guernsey, producer duo Without have created this weeks first pick called "Love Liike This" feat. Essie. This track is an easy going piece, full with feel good vibes and a happy sounding instrumental, giving you summer-like feelings. Really enjoyable...the clear vocal performance by Essie, which gets particularly interesting to listen to during the chorus due to some creative effects and swivels. "Love Liike This" is out now via The Peace. Give it a spin here, check out the music video or check out the link for Spotify know the drill :)

It's just been a month since the previous single release from The Him, but now the duo is back with a brand new one called "Always". Jeroen and Steven as it turns out are machines...they simply must be...with the rate of productivity, consistency, quality and awesomeness they drop new music...However if they were machines, their music would be boring, repetitive and trivial, but it's far from that. "Always" is filled with beautiful emotional triggers, sweet melodies, interesting sounds and most importantly a unique identity which you can associate with The Him...just the way it should be!

"Always" is out now, give it a spin here or check the link below for Spotify.

Cold War (Nick AM Remix)

In my wildest dreams I didn't think Cautious Clay's "Cold War" could get any better...but someone seriously proved me wrong. So here we's NYC's own Nick AM's version, which will blow your mind...nothing less...Think along the lines of Kaytranada, Pomo and Sean Turk, then you might know a bit of what to expect. What makes this track so good though, are the amazing deep house sounding late night vibes and some ultra sweet bass that makes the track extra thick and smooth. Combine that with the vocal, the lyrics and everything else nice the original got perfection!

Out now as a free download, all you have to do is to click the link below and pick up your own personal copy of this jam. Enjoy!
